Ganwyd Richard Bebb yng Ngwmparc, Cwm Rhondda, a threuliodd y rhan helaeth o’i blentyndod yn Nyfnaint a Chernyw. Graddiodd mewn Anthropoleg Gymdeithasol yng Ysgol Economeg Llundain cyn dychwelyd i Gymru I ddechrau ei yrfa fel gwerthwr henebau, gan arbenigo mewn celfi Cymreig. Fel arbenigwr blaenllaw yn y maes, uchafbwynt ei waith ymchwil oedd cyhoeddi y ddwy gyfrol arobryn, Welsh Furniture 1250-1950: A Cultural History of Craftsmanship and Design yn 2007. Mae Richard yn aelod o’r British Antiques Dealers’ Association ac yn Gymrawd Ymchwil Mygedol Amgueddfa Cymru.

 

Richard Bebb was born in Cwmparc in the Rhondda Valley, and spent most of his childhood in Devon and Cornwall. After graduating in Social Anthropology from the London School of Economics, he returned to Wales and began a career as an antiques dealer, specializing in Welsh furniture. Widely recognized as the leading authority on the subject, his researches culminated in the award-winning two-volume Welsh Furniture 1250-1950: A Cultural History of Craftsmanship and Design, published in 2007. Richard is a member of the British Antiques Dealers’ Association and an Honorary Research Fellow of National Museum Wales.

Ganwyd Sioned Williams yng Nghaerdydd ond cafodd eimagu ym mhentref Llanbryn-mair, Sir Drefaldwyn. Dychwelodd i Gaerdydd ym 1989, lle enillodd radd dosbarth cyntaf mewn Hanes Cymru a Chymraeg, a chwblhau doethuriaeth ar agweddau ar ddiwylliant materol bonedd gogledd-ddwyrain Cymru rhwng 1540-1640. Datblygodd ei diddordeb mewn hanes celfi wrth astudio rhestri eiddo fel rhan o’r gwaith ymchwil. Mae Sioned wedi bod yn gweithio fel Curadur Dodrefn yn Amgueddfa Werin Cymru, Sain Ffagan er 1996.

Sioned Williams was born in Cardiff but grew up in the rural village of Llanbryn-mair, Montgomeryshire. Returning to Cardiff in 1989, she graduated with first class honours in Welsh History and Welsh from Cardiff University, followed by a PhD on aspects of material culture of the gentry of north-east Wales from 1540-1640. Through her research work, reading many household inventories, her desire to study Welsh furniture developed. Sioned was appointed Curator of Furniture at St Fagans: National History Museum in 1996, a position she still holds.
